Automatically Closing Prolonged or Unprofitable Trades
To prevent trades from lingering too long or becoming unmanageable, TradeShields offers options to automatically close trades based on time and profitability conditions.
How to configure:
- Under Risk Management, enable one or both of the following options:
- Close trade if open for too long and take profit level not hit
- Close trade if open for too long and not in profit
- Set the number of bars after which the trade should be closed (e.g., 100 bars).
Example:
- Enable the first option to automatically close trades after 50 bars if the take profit has not been reached.
- Enable the second option to close trades after 30 bars if they remain unprofitable.
Tips:
- Adjust the number of bars based on the chart timeframe you're trading:
- For 1-minute charts, use fewer bars (e.g., 20–50).
- For hourly charts, use more bars (e.g., 50–150).
- Combine this setting with take profit and stop loss rules for a well-rounded risk strategy.
